 GuadeloupeGuadeloupe is an Over-Sea department. It's 1 780 km2 and is located at 16.15°N and 61.35°W in the Lesser Antilles. In fact, it's an archipelago made up of several islands : |
| - Basse-Terre : volcanic island where you can find “La Soufrière” (1467 meters) ;
- Grande-Terre : flat island situaded on the East side ;
- Marie-Galante
- La Désirade
- Les Saintes (Terre de Haut and Terre de Bas) ;
- Petite-Terre (it's a nature reserve since 1998 and it's only 150 hectares, situated in the Atlantic Ocean).
- Saint-Barthélemy and Saint-Martin are part of Guadeloupe but are not considered in our study area.
